Planning a career transition?

Career coaching

Career decisions can feel mind-boggling. There are so many factors that impact which job will suit us best: from considerations about whether the work will fulfil our purpose or suit our values, all the way down to whether the salary can support the lifestyle we want to lead, or the commute leaves us with any leisure or family time in the evenings. And even once you’ve made the leap, there are daily challenges to navigate, boundaries to maintain, and colleagues to partner with.

If you’re interested in career coaching, I’d recommend you start by reading this overview of what coaching is. Career coaching operates through all the same principles - but has a closer focus on improving your working life, or supporting through a career transition.

In the process of career coaching a whole range of clients over the years, I’ve developed a clear workflow to help you through your next career transition. This can be tailored to suit your exact needs, but might include:

  • Exploration of your deeper wants and needs; your purpose, values and vision

  • Time and space to brainstorm roles that will meet these criteria

  • Discussion of what mental or practical blockers are holding you back from taking the next steps

  • Support action planning your job research and applications (and accountability for making progress)

  • Polishing your CV and cover letters to help your personality and achievements shine through

  • Interview practice and feedback

  • Preparation to start a stretching new job

  • Support with your new role, work environment, and professional relationships

“Alice supported me through a really big career change - her coaching was invaluable in making the decision to pursue my own business. I would highly recommend to other young professionals looking to embark on a new journey.”

- Kalila, 5-star Google Review

“Alice was a great help to me. I came to her with a few problems around my CV and how best to look for a new job. She helped me perfect my CV and cover letter, and reminded me that my work experience had more merit than I was giving it. Knowing I’d had an Oxford graduate look over my CV gave me the confidence to attack the job market and my interviews.”

- Oliver, 5-star Google Review

“I reached out to Alice for support with my Personal Statement when applying to a competitive university. Alice provided fantastic feedback and delivered it in a supportive and empowering way. She knew how to highlight my strengths, and made compelling connections between my background, experience and reasons for applying to the course. This, along with her improvements to the flow and sentence structure, took my application from good to great and was instrumental in me being offered a place.”

- Laura, 5-star Google Review
